This week I’ve been trying to access online accounts, find old paperwork, and generally get my ducks in a row, only I can’t find half of them.
It reminds me of a conversation I had recently with a friend of mine who inherited his next-door neighbour’s house, completely out of the blue. The old fella was getting on and not in the best of health, but still, my friend was not expecting what came next — all of the neighbour’s affairs.
Oh Shit I’m Dead is the book that helps you not only get your ducks in a row, but find most of them, and then line them up.
It got me thinking about how many coaches have their own version of this — not paperwork, but the unresolved stuff. The development conversation you’ve been putting off. The direction you keep meaning to figure out. The bit of your practice you know needs sorting but never quite get to.
That’s exactly why Coach Camp exists.
If you are in the Cardiff area, I’m also back with Sprint Social each and every Friday at 6:30 pm. Last week, I had the pleasure of one of the parents who had been standing on the sidelines joining in. It was a big deal for them and me. Creating an experience that people feel like they can join is something I’ve always wanted to build — and it’s the same thing that happens at Coach Camp: coaches who’ve been on the sidelines of their own development finally get involved.
Life has a habit of providing you with unexpected moments; don’t wait to be asked, don’t wait until you have no choice, or it’s too late — get involved, take part, and above all, be good.
The next Coach Camp is Saturday 29th August. Grab your free ticket here.
Here’s what one coach said after attending June’s event:
“I liked the confidence I gained from talking and listening to others about coaching young minds. I wish I’d done this sooner.”
What are you waiting for, and don’t say “to get all my ducks in a row!”
