Paid not to care

If, as Seth Godin suggests, there are three ways to put effort into a project:

  1. Chores and Tasks
  2. Emotional Labour
  3. Leverage

Then being tasked with getting the job done, rather than worrying about it, is valid. The alternative is to worry that the people you employ don’t care about your project, and that’s a category error, on your part, and further evidence that you need people to get shit done, not stand around worrying.

Makes you think, doesn’t it?

How can you create the conditions where you worry less and people care more?
